We believe that to be effective we must work very closely in a collaborative partnership with our clients.
Security Infrastructure
There are several types or levels of security programs that can be utilized to enhance school campus security. These security measures can be engineered to be a stand-alone program utilizing unarmed/armed security personnel or used in conjunction with state-of-the-art technology related to CCTV/alarms/card access systems.
Objectives of a Physical Security Program
For any security program to be successful the below objectives must be met:
Deter – Detect – Delay - Assess – Respond
If deterrence fails, the physical security system should detect the intrusion. If that fails, the intruder should be delayed with physical, electronic or human barriers. While delaying the intruder, the security system should provide accurate information, either overtly or covertly, so that the security team can assess the situation and initiate the proper response.
Use of Security Officers
An effective deterrent is a trained armed security officer. In order for a security officer to be effective, several key elements must be in place. The security officer must be experienced and knowledgeable of the laws of working on a school campus. This officer must have five or more years of experience working as a law enforcement officer and possesses a CCW permit (Carrying of a Concealed Weapons permit) with the appropriate State of California Licensing. This officer must be trained to a level that projects credible deterrence and be empowered by the client to act in accordance to the protocols contained within the campus emergency plan or post orders. The training program must be progressive and occur at regular intervals to ensure that the security officer maintains his or her professionalism and remains a legitimate deterrent and/or response.
